Bariloche Day Trips

Bariloche Day Trips

By Carlye Goldman, July 2019.

After you’ve worked hard taking Spanish lessons in Bariloche, and you are looking for more activities and places to explore, you can take a well-deserved day trip to see more of Patagonia, Argentina. There are a variety places you can explore and continue to practice your Spanish while doing so.

To begin, a trip worth taking during any time of the year, but you’ll experience a Narnia-like feel if you go in the winter is Cerro Tronador. Tronador is Bariloche’s tallest mountain, and gets its name from the sound breaking ice glaciers make. This black-glacier is undoubtedly one of the most breathtaking views you will witness, and is the perfect day trip to take after you finish your Spanish course week(s).

Volunteer in Patagonia

At La Montaña we are proud to develop volunteer and internship oportunities, making a positive impact on our community while helping people form different cultures to meet and learn from eachother.

Volunteering quick facts:
REQUIRED SPANISH LEVEL: Depends on project, but all levels are welcome from A1+
START DAY: Any Monday
DURATION: 2 to 24 weeks.
VOLUNTEER COMMITMENT: average 15 hours per week.
SPANISH CLASSES: 2 weeks Spanish classes required*
LOCATION: Patagonia. Within Bariloche area

Sample Volunteer week:
Mornings: Spanish lessons
Afternoons: Cultural activities 3 times per week + Volunteering 2 or 3 times per week.

* Why two weeks Spanish lessons are required?
The minimum Spanish level required is A1+ and maybe you are already there. However, speaking in real life could be harder than what you are used to consider “Speaking Spanish” in a class with your teacher. In real life you will meet people who will speak faster, not so clear and conversation will be about very specific subjects. This is the reason why volunteers need a two weeks Spanish training in order to improve speaking and listening skills as well as specific topics about the volunteer project (in Spanish of course!)

1) Environmental project: https://www.lamontana.com/learn-spanish-bariloche/blog/245-travel-with-a-purpose-volunteer-in-patagonia
